Setup Teradata in Microsoft Azure

This page provides the steps to create a Teradata database in Microsoft cloud computing platform Azure.

Disclaimer

This post only serves a simple tutorial purpose about the general Azure functions. It doesn't provide any official guidance about how to configure those technical details in Teradata in Azure.

Please refer to Teradata or Microsoft Azure for any professional guidance or advices if you have any questions about the setup.

1. Login to your Azure Management Portal

https://portal.azure.com

2. Navigate to Virtual machines

Click Add button to add new virtual machine.

3. Search keyword Teradata

4. Select Teradata Database – Hourly template

5. Click Create button to create

6. Configurations

There are 11 steps to configure before you can buy it.  All these configurations are very straightforward.

6.1 Basics

Resource group needs to be empty.

6.2 Teradata Database

Virtual machine size and DBC password can be configured in this step.

6.3 Viewpoint

Configure where to enable Viewpoint.

For this example, I am not configuring Viewpoint.

6.4 Server Management

If you want to deploy Server Management, you need to deploy Viewpoint first.

6.5 Teradata REST Services

If you want to deploy Teradata REST Services, you need to deploy Viewpoint first.

6.6 Data Stream Controller

If you want to deploy Data Stream Controller, you need to deploy Viewpoint first.

6.7 Ecosystem Manager

If you want to deploy Ecosystem Manager, you need to deploy Viewpoint first.

6.8 Data Mover

If you want to deploy Data Mover, you need to deploy Viewpoint first.

Data Mover is not available for Developer Tier

6.9 QueryGrid Manager

If you want to deploy QueryGrid Manager, you need to deploy Viewpoint first.

QueryGrid Manager is not available for Developer Tier.

6.10 General Settings

Configure virtual network settings in this step.

6.11 Summary

This step summarizes the details you have configured in the above steps.

Once you review, you can click OK to complete the setup.
